Really nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. The husband had grouper He could've sworn was caught the same day , cooked & brought to the table! I had the Chicken Francais , which was pretty good, not the most tender I've had...but tasty! The waiter was VERY accommodating without being intrusive. Afterwards they serve a complimentary small ice cream, nice touch! Would definitely go back!

I was taken here on a recent visit to Vero Beach and immediately liked the dark, clubby, masculine environment of this popular very un-beachy restaurant. Went without a reservation but a table was found by luck so booking ahead is a wise course, particularly at the somewhat early peak dining times found in this part of the world. No umbrella drinks or seaweed-laced mojitos here! It's definitely a gin and red meat sort of place although the fish offerings sounded and looked good. Had the crab cake starter followed by a reasonable but not first-rate caesar salad, and then a very tasty and succulent veal chop. The sommelier/barman really knows his wines so by all means take his advice and you'll be very happy.

WOW! Had an amazing meal last night at PG with my wife. The Grouper I had was so fresh I am sure it was caught yesterday morning and my wife's filet was cooked to perfection! Perfect place for any occasion. Menu has an excellent selection of comfort food to the best of the best. Service was perfect as was the atmosphere. New favorite in Vero!!!

Had dinner here Monday night and was most impressed. Tony the bartender was a a walking encyclopedia about wines as well as knowing the menu inside out. We had a drink at the bar and then into the dining rom, where the owner greeted us like we were regulars. Our waiter Michael was wonderful and had a great sense of humor. Ii had the pork schnnitzle , which was served with a delicious. Layered potato slice, that had onions and cheese in it. My husband had the special of lobster baked in a cream sauce served with rice. All dinners come. With salad and sorbet. All in all it was a great evening and we will be back very soon.
Only go for early birds. Good atmosphere, good menu, excellent food, good service reasonable (a little on the high side). Best restaurant on the island.

For me, rating the Polo Grill was difficult--I was and still am torn between 4 stars and 5 stars. Ultimately, I had to go with 4 stars and I'll explain why: Polo Grill is a charming restaurant. It has a clubby masculine aura, and it is clearly a local favorite. On our Friday night visit the restaurant was packed, noticeably drawing an older crowd. Our table was not ready upon our arrival but the host who greeted us was apologetic and gracious. We were seated in just a matter of minutes and our server was promptly at our table. The menu here is very short, if not too short. All entrees are accompanied by either a caesar salad or a lettuce wedge salad, and it is with those salads that my first negative observation occurs. It is my view that a 5 star restaurant should make their own salad dressings. Polo Grill's salad dressings are not homemade. I tasted both the bleu cheese and caesar dressings, ultimately going with the caesar, which was tasty, but not of the quality of a homemade caesar dressing. The size of the salad also caused me some consternation. It was very small, and really only offered a tasting as opposed to a regular size salad serving. With our salads came freshly baked bread and creamy butter which were both delicious, prompting our table to request and receive, multiple servings. At the start of the meal you also receive some very tasty cheese crackers which are somewhat addictive. We wanted to have a bottle of wine while we pondered the menu and considered the three specials which were offered that evening. The wine list is brief, like the menu, but did contain a wide enough selection. On the table was also a card where approximately 10 white and 10 red wines were offered for $30 each. I certainly understand wine markup, and believe that a markup of 100% is fair. I was troubled to see a Mark West Pinot Noir on the $30 list, especially considering that the day before I bought the exact same bottle for $8.99 at Publix. To me, an over 300% wine markup is overreaching. All of my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed their entrees which included a blackened trout, a filet mignon and a crab cake, and for the most part declared them delicious. I had the ribeye and at $42.95 I expect a great cut of beef. My steak was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. However, even for a ribeye, it was just too fatty to rate as a five star steak, and I wonder if the beef was prime, because it was not designated as such on the menu. I would come back and try it again though, and hopefully get a better cut. I was surprised by the complimentary Hagen-Daz scoop of ice cream for dessert and thought it was a very nice touch. In sum, Polo Grill is a very good restaurant, with a warm ambiance, very good food and first rate service. I will come back and recommend it without reservation; but with the few issues I have cited, I just can't give it 5 stars.

Fantastic food! The shrimp scampi had outstanding flavor! Very calm and peaceful atmosphere. Visited on a Saturday night and was surprised that the crowd was mostly seniors.

Great atmosphere, very expensive and mediocre food. I ordered salmon Oscar and there was no taste. Very bland. My companion ordered shrimp scampi and the same thing...very bland. It almost tasted like it was frozen. We let our waiter know and he just offered to get our check. Really???...better service at Olive Garden.

Tonight's dinner was the best I have had at Polo Grill. Caesar salad, veal piñata and the complementary mocha chip ice cream... Delicious!! Great service, good wine selections etc. Looking forward to going back!

Really like this place for its value (web site is very focused on the early menu), and proximity to the oceanfront - 2 qualities that rarely go together. Specifically the "Dinner at Five" menu offers 10 selections for $15-17 with great salad (Caesar Salad or Blue Wedge) and a Haagen daas ice cream dessert. Great deals on wine too, which is key since this is a perfect place to walk to from your beachfront hotel room. Cons: Early Bird times are 5:00 & 5:15 PM only. Yikes. Still, I seem to be hungry early after a day on the beach. The Poughkeepsie reviewer is spot on with his description: masculine, club-like, great dark candlelight ambiance which is a real switch for Vero.

Unfortunately, I was not a fan of Polo Grill. My husband and I were looking for something a little more "moderately priced" in Vero Beach. They had a wide selection of offerings, and the prices were right, so we decided to dine in. I will say this about the restaurant, they give you VALUE. We had a salad, bread and a complimentary dessert included in the price of the entree. That is a rare thing these days at nice restaurants. It was a clear favorite among senior citizens. We were one of two tables in the restaurant under the age of 60. I don't have a problem with that at all, but it's important to note when setting up the atmosphere. We each had a drink at the bar. I ordered prosecco, which was great, and my husband ordered a Manhattan, which he said was TERRIBLE. For dinner, he ordered the short rib, which tasted like a bland potroast, and I ordered the crab cakes, which were far from jumbo lump crab cakes that you would get in Maryland. In fact, they tasted cheaply made, there were no jumbo lumps of anything, and it had more of a "deviled crab" flavor. The dessert was good. We ordered a rum raisin ice cream. Then, I asked for an irish coffee. It wasn't on the menu, but I figured most places could make one well. It was ok, nothing fancy. But, to my horror, they charged $12 for an irish coffee!!!!! I couldn't believe it! My husband felt sick on his stomach the minute we got home. I was just depressed that we spent so much money on a subpar meal.

Loved the food and the service. Great quiet restaurant. The pompano was excellent while the duck less so. Nice decor.

Overpriced food. Good service, but nothing special. The Shrimp Scampi were medium (at best) sized shrimp -- not large scampi -- and not worth $31. Croutons on salad seemed like Pepperidge Farm croutons from a bag. Room is dark and chairs were not comfortable.

Our party of six was very pleased with the Polo Grill. One of the best we have eaten in during our stay in Vero. The salads we had were a mix of the Blue Cheese wedges and Caesar's and were all excellent judging by the clean plates left by all. Three of us had the fresh pompano special that was absolutely delicious (it melted in your mouth). The veggies served with it were cooked perfectly (even the carrots). We also had Chickien Marsala, Sea Scallops and Salmon entrées at the table and again no complaints from anyone. A nice touch at the end of the meal were COMPLIMENTARY desserts! A choice of two sorbets: mango and rum raisin. I had the rum raisin and it was very good. Our waiter was excellent. If in Vero make it a point to have a meal at the Polo.
